Guest use and account backups
You can begin using MyYuzu without creating a MyYuzu account. Journal information created while using the app as a guest is stored locally on your device.
If you choose to create or connect an account, your journal data and related information may be uploaded to our cloud infrastructure so that it can be backed up, synced, and restored across installations or devices.
Information collected when you use the app
We may also process technical and usage information, including:

3. Analytics and Marketing Services
PostHog
We use PostHog for product analytics. PostHog may receive an anonymous identifier, or your MyYuzu account identifier if you are signed in, along with basic device, app, and usage information.
Our MyYuzu analytics implementation does not send the contents of your journal notes, your photos, your mood selections, or your journal activity/category selections to PostHog.
Meta / Facebook SDK
MyYuzu uses the Meta/Facebook SDK for app-event measurement and marketing attribution. Meta may receive automatic app events and basic device or app information generated through the SDK.
Our integration is not configured to send your journal entries, notes, photos, moods, name, email address, or other journal content to Meta. MyYuzu does not request Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission and our Meta integration is configured not to collect the Apple advertising identifier (IDFA).
4. Third-Party Services
We use third-party service providers to operate MyYuzu. These providers process information only for the purposes associated with the services they provide to us, subject to their own terms and privacy practices.
Our current service providers include:

- When reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, security, or integrity of MyYuzu, our users, or others
- In connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law
6. Data Storage and Security
Journal information created while using MyYuzu as a guest is stored locally on your device. If you create or connect an account, eligible journal, profile, settings, and photo information may also be stored through Supabase so that your journal can be backed up and restored.
Journal photos stored through our cloud infrastructure are kept in private storage and accessed using authenticated or time-limited access mechanisms.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention and Account Deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide MyYuzu, maintain our services, support users, improve the app, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
When you delete your MyYuzu account through the app, we delete your account and associated journal, profile, settings, Yuzu progression, and cloud-stored journal data from our active systems as part of the account deletion process.
Certain limited information may be retained after account deletion where reasonably necessary. For example, previous support requests and support communications may be retained so that we can maintain support history, investigate recurring issues, prevent misuse, and improve MyYuzu.
Information processed by third-party providers, such as Apple, RevenueCat, PostHog, or Meta, may also be retained in accordance with those providers' applicable retention policies, legal requirements, and deletion processes.
Limited information may also remain temporarily in system logs, security records, or service-provider backups until those records are deleted or overwritten through normal retention processes.
Deleting your MyYuzu account does not automatically cancel an active Apple App Store subscription. Subscriptions must be managed separately through your Apple account.
